TVP confusion.

is TVP the same as soy granules? I read this somewhere and now I am mighty confused. The only time I've ever used soy granules is when cooking curry - i use it as a meat substitute for things like korma.

I'm also having trouble locating TVP anywhere. How many names does this thing haaaaave and where can I buy it in Australia?

  1. I had the same problem too when starting to cook with Textured vegetable protein. To my knowledge 'yes' it is the same thing, but it comes in so many forms: chunky, granules, frozen, dehydrated and so many names.

  2. Yeah I figured that might be the case. I guess it's a good thing that there are so many different types! I will work with a trial and error theory! :D

  3. I don't know if you have Pantry Man where you are, but I buy it in bulk from there! It seems hard to come across in the main supermarkets these days, whereas before you could find it everywhere. I guess it's gone out of vogue. Look for it where you buy bulk cereals, flours etc.
